Heavy British Flintlock Swivel Blunderbuss, c. 1750. Iron barrel with a muzzle diameter of 54mm. Three proofmarks near the bottom of the barrel indicate military use. The flintlock features a half-cock position. The lockplate is stamped "S M" under a crown and engraved "LONDON". The stock has numerous dings and dents from old use and features brass fittings at the ram-rod, trigger-guard, lock-screws and butt. Length overall 109cm, weight ca. 7kg.
This is an unusually elegant and overall well preserved example of these extremely rare weapons.
